Yesterday Michael and I went out with my parents and tooled around Gig Harbor to see all the "uptown developments" going on. It's actually turning out to be quite a nice area and the quality and look of the new shops coming in reminded us of Bridgeport Village in Portland. Soon there will be a J. Jill and Ben & Jerry's to accompany the Panera Bread, Borders, and Coldwater Creek. I'm hoping maybe a Crate and Barrel or a Williams-Sonoma will open up shop there too, but we'll have to wait until it's all completed.
We went out to dinner at Anthony's, which was pretty yummy. We all had sunset dinners, a four-course meal that ended with diabetic-inducing desserts. I had the Bailey's Irish Cream Mousse; no wonder I was so sleepy afterwards. My parents also showed us some new townhomes/developments opening up for us to think about moving into. We really liked the ones at Harbor Crossing, but we need to be rollin' in mad scrillas (street talk for money) in order to settle in there. If we did live there, both of us would be able to walk to work, Target, or the grocery store. How excellent would that be? We'd also be a bike ride (or a 3-minute car ride, which is more likely since we're lazy) to my parents house, an extra bonus after we have kids.
For now we're just scoping out our options of places to live. We'd like to live in Gig Harbor, but probably Tacoma or Port Orchard would be more acce$$ible for us. Or we could pack up and move to California to the delight of my extended family and my brother-in-law, but if we can't afford Gig Harbor, we most definitely won't be able to afford California...unless we move to Sweetwater or National City.
